About Blues Disciples
Blues Disciples Media’s mission is to entertain our listeners by sharing the music and discussing the origins of African American Blues and Gospel music and its importance and impact on our American culture over the past 100 years. Every blues artist is a product of a unique life story filled with ingenuity, perseverance, and genius – and our goal is to spread their beautiful music and inspiring stories to as many people as possible.
Blues Disciples is a 501(c) (3) non-profit corporation. Any and all income in excess of expenses to produce our Episodes and grants goes to support other non-profit entities who are dedicated to fighting hunger in our communities and to supporting blues musicians needing assistance. Primary among those we support are: 1) Meeting Essential Needs with Dignity (MEND) which is a non-profit network of food pantries in and around Newark, New Jersey. MEND serves more than 490,000 children, women and men annually and, 2) the non- profit Blues Foundation’s HART Fund which provides assistance to blues artists in need.
