Show 203 – Recorded 12-10-22 – With this podcast we interview our friend Dr David Evans about his and Ms Marina Bokelman’s new book Going Up The Country: Adventures in Blues Fieldwork in the 1960’s from University Press of Mississippi. Dr Evans tells us about their trip to Louisiana and Mississippi in 1966 and some of the great field recordings they made. We will hear 12 songs from some of the wonderful artists they met, and field recorded. The artists are Babe Stovall, Isaiah Chattman, Herb Quinn, L.V. Conerly, Issac Youngblood, Roosevelt Holts, Arzo Youngblood, Mager Johnson, Cornelius Bright, Jack Owens, Boogie Bill Webb. Please give a listen!
