Show 205 – Recorded 12-31-22 – With this podcast we again interview our friend Dr David Evans about his and Ms Marina Bokelman’s new book Going Up The Country: Adventures in Blues Fieldwork in the 1960’s from University Press of Mississippi. Dr Evans tells us about their return trip to Louisiana and Mississippi in 1967 and some of the great field recordings they made. We will hear 12 songs from some of the wonderful artists they met, and field recorded. The artists are John Henry “Bubba” Brown, Robert “Nighthawk” Johnson, Woodrow Adams, Fiddlin’ Joe Martin, Houston Stackhouse, Mager Johnson, Carey “Ditty” Mason, Carey Lee Simmons, Babe Stovall and Herb Quinn.
