Set for May 7th in Memphis, this live awards dinner showcases many of today’s blues legends and emerging blues greats on one stage. This podcast provides a Skype interview with Barbara Newman, CEO of the Blues Foundation and a sample of 11 performances of blues songs performed by 14 great blues artists or groups who will be honored at the BMA’s on May 7th. Performances range from 2017 to 2019. The blues artists featured are: John Primer and the Real Deal Blues Band, Sue Foley and Billy Gibbons, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram and Buddy Guy, Rory Block, Bobby Rush, Billy Branch and his Sons of The Blues, Mary Lane, Jontavious Willis, Shemekia Copeland, Watermelon Slim, Samantha Fish and Lightnin’ Malcolm.
